Mother’s Day is great, but we deserve more than just one day a year. Motherhood is the toughest job out there. PERIOD. We don’t need fancy jewelry or designer clothes. Moms want to know that they are loved and valued. If moms hold on to their kindergartener’s artwork for years, it’s safe to say that they will love anything you make them. Especially if you’re on a budget, any DIY gift you make for her will put a smile on her face. Why not give her the gift of relaxation? Spoil your momma with some DIY Mother’s Day Bath Bombs. They’re easy-to-make, and she’s sure to love them.
How To Make Rose Bath Bombs:
Here is what you will need:
Cream of Tartar (to replace citric acid)
Vitamin E Oil
Food coloring of choice
Any shape mold
Rose petals, or flower petals of choice.
Start by mixing ½ cup Baking Soda, ¼ cup of Cream of Tartar, ¼ cup Epsom Salt, ¼ cup Corn Starch, in a non-reactive bowl. For example, we used a glass bowl.
Second, add 2 tbsp of Vitamin E Oil, and whisk until a soft sand texture formed. Added 1 tsp of Red food coloring, or use whatever your mom’s favorite color is. Now mix this in by using a spatula and breaking the color and mixing throughout. Using the side of the bowl helped with this, in the end, you will have a dark pink to red sand. Adjust color as needed.
Next, using a spay bottle with water, spritz water onto the mixture and continue to mix, do not spray so much that the mixture starts to fizzle out. 2-3 pumps goes a long way. What you are trying to achieve is a WET sand consistency that when clumped in your hand, stays together. Once you achieve this, begin to prepare your molds by adding any rose petals as you desire. As you fill your molds, press into molds firmly.
Lastly, remove them onto a flat surface by tapping on them with the back of a spoon and allow to sit over night.
The next morning your Bath Bombs will look amazing and hard as can be! These are ready to be wrapped up or included in a Mother’s Day gift basket. Happy Mother’s Day!
